As per our recent public announcement, Kindred is currently developing its own in-house sportsbook trading platform and client. Where the role is very much a long term, operational position, throughout the development period of the platform, you will be working with other key stakeholders across the project and development tracks to help bring our product ambitions to life.

Our ideal candidate will have an excellent knowledge of mathematics and odds with a strong analytical background and a proven ability to drive P&L of bookmaking. They must possess first class communication skills with the ability to liaise at all levels. They will have the enthusiasm to drive and enhance our existing product, manage a team of sports traders, possibly across multiple locations, including remote working. Shift patterns are variable, to include days, evenings, weekends and bank holidays and may also include early, evening and night working hours. They must be aware of our product breadth and how that competes in the market place, understand local market requirements including any specific commercial executions and be able to work proactively with the other Sportsbook stakeholders to further enhance our operations and offering.

What you will do: 

  • Report directly to the Head of Trading. 

  • Lead and develop a team of sports traders, possibly across multiple locations, that will support your KPIs in the role of Trading Manager 

  • Take an active role in the development phase of our in-house sportsbook platform alongside key stakeholders 

  • Responsibility for the accurate and timely provision of events, markets and odds (Pre-match, In-play, futures and in some cases ‘specials') for our Sportsbook betting product. These would be both feed driven and manually created. 

  • Manage liabilities and positions across different sports for our betting product (trading) 

  • Monitor and respond to activity or information that could impact the profitability of the Sportsbook betting product 

  • Monitor appropriate competitor markets and take action as required 

  • Assist in the business operation process within the overall Sportsbook department as required. 

  • Work with Risk Management and Quant to develop, execute and monitor the trading strategy and principles of the betting product 

  • Work with Risk Management and Quant to analyse and develop the trading framework for different markets and divisions  

  • Work with Risk Management and Sportsbook Control to calculate and communicate the risks acceptable for betting activity for selected sports and leagues 

  • Assist Risk Management with the identification of a customer's / group of customers' risk profile. 

  • Assist the Quant and Data Science teams in their work helping to continually improve our Sportsbook betting KPIs 

  • Coordinate with the internal sportsbook team on Strategy, Marketing, Promotional and Operational issues 

  • Work alongside the broader Sportsbook team and other key stakeholders to ensure accurate customer management. 

  • There may be a requirement to work a shift pattern including evenings, weekends and bank holidays to meet the needs of the business. 

How you will be measured: 

  • Sportsbook betting revenues 

  • Sportsbook betting margin 

  • Growth of the above 

Your experience: 

  • Experience in leading and developing a team. 

  • In depth demonstrable knowledge of the methods and math that apply to sports bookmaking. 

  • Excellent analytical background with the ability to relate to both business and technical functions, including an understanding of the application of advanced data usage through quantitative analysis (price modelling, propensity modelling, trading algorithms etc). 

  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to deliver solutions in exacting timelines and demanding environments. 

  • Strong understanding of Microsoft office products, particularly Excel. 

  • Understanding of customer profiling and behavioral trends. 

  • A keen interest in sports and/or sports betting. 

  • Industry experience is essential for this role. 

  • Hard working, flexible and enthusiastic about meeting challenges with solutions. 

  • Proactive in improving the product, team and themselves. 

  • Team Player who can also work independently when required. 

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills. 

  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal, is essential
