The role

As a Sportsbook Risk Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of analysts in assessing and managing risk associated with sportsbook customers.

This role involves overseeing the identification of potentially fraudulent or high-risk activities, developing strategies to mitigate these risks, and ensuring the integrity of sportsbook operations. The manager will work closely with other departments to maintain a secure and profitable sportsbook environment.

Our ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills along with leadership and team management experience. Experience in sportsbook risk management or a related field combined with a deep understanding of the sports and horse racing betting industry and its best practices is a must have for a successful candidate.

Shift patterns are variable, to include days, evenings, weekends and public holidays and may also include early evening and night working hours.

What you will do

  • Report directly to the Head of Sportsbook Risk Management.
  • Take an active role in the development phase of our in-house sportsbook platform alongside key stakeholders.
  • Day-to-day line management of a team of risk analysts including recruitment, onboarding and trainings fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Set clear performance expectations, provide feedback and conduct monthly/quarterly performance evaluations.
  • Planning & scheduling of working rotations.
  • Monitor sportsbook positions, odds and market movements to identify potential risks and opportunities.
  • Collaboratewith the Trading Team to ensure an optimal laying, overround & limits strategy across individual and group level of customers​.
  • Manage the liability tolerance across sports and events acrossall markets and customers​.
  • Drive optimisation through the analysis of cross sections of our Sportsbook tradingperformance.
  • Work with the Quant and Data Scienceteams to develop risk algorithms​ and propensity models.
  • Ensure we work in sustainable and responsible gambling strategy.
  • Liaise with the Sportsbook Control department to ensure appropriate provision of resource in line with business requirements.
  • There will be a requirement to work a shift pattern including evenings, weekends, and public holidays to meet the needs of the business.

Your experience

  • In depth demonstrable knowledge of the methods and maths that apply to bookmaking.
  • Analytical background with the ability to relate to both business and technical functions, including an understanding of the application of advanced data usage through quantitative analysis (price modelling, propensity modelling, trading algorithms etc).
  • Previous managerial or supervisory experience within the sports and horse racing betting industry.
  • Attention to detail and ability to deliver solutions in strict timelines and demanding environments.
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills in a team environment.
  • Comfortable to work with all Microsoft 365 software tools, particularly Excel.
  • Understanding of customer profiling and behavioural trends.
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal, is essential.
