Software Engineer, Test Automation

The role


We are looking for a test automation software engineer to join a team of talented developers that have a strong focus on customer experience. You must love the idea of working with mission critical product with millions of end users and zero downtime.


Our testers play an integral role in each development team and work closely with developers to ensure the quality of every release. What you will do


  • Identify business requirements
  • Work closely with product owners, developers and business analysts on the developed solutions, providing feedback on the soundness of proposed solutions, ensuring they are fit for purpose
  • Write acceptance criteria for various requirements
  • Use experience, domain knowledge and a risk based approach to split testing into the functional, automated BDD test design
  • Structured exploratory testing and non-functional, UI, accessibility testing and security
  • Design tests to mitigate risk
  • Liaise with project teams in other parts of the world
  • Estimate test effort for user stories, sprints and projects
  • Perform manual testing (exploratory and non-functional), record results and log defects
  • Review results of automated tests and log defects
  • Stress test
  • Performance test
  • Use tools and frameworks such as Cucumber and Gatling
  • Support and work closely with the UAT  test team to ensure the consistency of application behavior
  • Evaluate the quality of product(s) under test and provide feedback to the team
  • Provide test metrics and reports to the team
  • Maintain and/or drive effort on bespoke test automation solutions, identifying areas where test automation could be beneficial
  • Continuously monitor/measure test coverage and improve test scenarios
  • Provide feedback/input on the techniques, solutions and tools used throughout the projects
  • Create and maintain online documentation
  • Monitor applications and software systems
  • Manage planning and releases
  • Work towards departmental and project deadlines
  • Provide quality assurance


Your experience


  • Experience using Java or Python
  • BDD approach to software development
  • Understanding of the value in test automation within an Agile environment
  • Experience building and maintaining test automation frameworks
  • You have worked with structured test methods and processes
  • Some working knowledge of database concepts and the ability to write basic SQL queries
  • A passion for solving complex problems in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
  • Ability to grasp complex business scenarios and translate them to solutions
  • A natural quest to share knowledge as well as learn from others
  • Solid experience in testing and software development 
  • You have played a key role in team success
