The Role 

As a Site Reliability Engineer at Kindred, you will build, deploy an scale our Observability Platform to increase and maintain the reliability of infrastructure services supporting all of our brands.

We are strong believers in engineering teams taking operational responsibility for their products and we work hard to support them in this. We work closely with engineers to advocate sensible, scalable systems, design and share responsibility with them in diagnosing, resolving, and preventing production issues. 

Responsibilities :

  • Design, build and integrate solutions to provide Monitoring and Observability using an automation-first mindset. 
  • Make use of SRE principles to eliminate repetitive work, reduce mean time to detect and repair issues. 
  • Help increase overall reliability of our products and services. 
  • Create a bridge between Development and Infrastructure teams by providing services, libraries and best practices to ensure that requirements concerning Observability (metrics, traces, logs, alerts, etc.) are part of the design of new systems. 

Skills and experience :

  • Strong background in coding. 
  • Writing scripts in one or more of the following languages: Bash, Python, Golang or similar. 
  • Ability to code review, give and receive feedback. 
  • Deep understanding of the Linux Operating System. 
  • Experience working with Distributed Systems. 
  • Hands-on experience in at least one of the following topics: 
  • Alerting and Monitoring: Prometheus, Icinga, Datadog, Nagios. 
  • Time Series Databases and Visualization: Graphite, Grafana, InfluxDB. 
  • Logging: Splunk, ElasticSearch, Graylog, FluentD, Vector. 
  • APM: New Relic, AppDynamics, Instana. 
  • Experience using Infrastructure building tools: 
  • CD / CI: Jenkins, GitLab, GitHub actions. 
  • Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation.

Nice to have :Container orchestration platforms: Kubernetes or Nomad. 

  • Experience working with Public or Private Clouds: AWS, Azure or OpenStack.
