Senior Software Engineer

About the role

As a senior software engineer and technical leader, you will be joining a team of talented developers and testers from diverse backgrounds who are passionate about what they do. You'll be responsible for driving the team's deliveries as well as improving the team's agile processes, working closely with the Product Owners and other teams.

You should have a hands-on technical experience in delivering scalable, high-performance distributed applications. You love the idea of working with a mission critical product with millions of end users and zero downtime.

Being experienced in Agile and Lean development, you enjoy responsibility and care as much about developing teams as developing software. In your role communication, coordination and team spirit are key components in getting things done.

What will you be doing?

  • Drive the team's delivery to production, coordinating across teams and backlogs
  • Lead design discussions with your colleagues to find great solutions to complex engineering challenges
  • Ensure technical details are analyzed, blockers and dependencies are managed
  • Plan and distribute work, perform backlog grooming, estimations and workload forecast with developers and Product Owner
  • Ensure agile team meetings (e.g. stand ups, retrospectives) are organized and that the team is represented in all relevant meetings, promoting collaboration with other teams
  • Be the first point of contact for the business and other development teams, being knowledgeable about your team's products
  • Motivate the team and keep up the team spirit, ensure all team members feel important and part of the team
  • Assist the team with technical development or testing activities, leading by example
  • Actively seek to continuously improve user experience and service performance

How will success be measured in this role

  • Delivery of tasks on time and taking responsibility for your work and the deliveries of the team
  • Robustness of technical delivery, high performance under load, low number of incidents
  • Ability to maintain balance between requirements and bug fixes, ensuring technical debt is addressed
  • Ability to facilitate and continuously improve the team's process. Ensure the team is aligned with Kindred Development processes, actively seek to develop and enhance the agile process used by the team
  • Team is highly functioning, challenged and motivated
  • Excellent communication within the team and with stakeholders
  • Incidents are properly prioritized and addressed within the team
  • Gains technical as well as business domain knowledge, involves others and is willing to share and spread their knowledge


What have you done?

  • You will have commercial experience delivering software as an Agile Lead / Scrum Master in a technically complex environment
  • You have a strong knowledge of core Java and practices and principles
  • You've worked in a highly transactional distributed architecture and understand the core principles of microservice architecture
  • You will have hands-on software development background and be able to lead senior developers
