What you will do

 

  • The Legal Counsel Nordics will be responsible for a variety of legal tasks, including drafting and reviewing legal documents and commercial contracts, providing feedback on legal terms and conditions, managing and keeping track of litigation and other administrative procedures, advising the line organisation on and securing overall compliance with local laws and regulations and mitigating potential risks, providing effective legal advice and support across the business, etc.
  • Have a deep and broad understanding of the legal framework in Nordic countries, with a strong focus on Norway or Finland, and Kindred's business activities in the broader geopolitical environment.
  • Responsible for providing any type of legal support required within the relevant regions or markets.
  • Communicate effectively with the Senior Legal Manager, seeking appropriate guidance if and when required.
  • Have oversight of the key legal processes, challenges and developments in Norway and Finland.
  • Invest in his/her continuous training and remain informed about all relevant legal developments, competitors and other major legal factors that affect business opportunities and risk in Norway and Finland.
  • Ensure that resources and means for measured taken are aligned with the agreed LeCoR objectives, value chain and LeCoR Mission statement.
  • Contribute and be part of an interconnected collaborative Group “hub & spoke” model between Legal, Public Affairs and Compliance (bridge), where expertise and know-how are shared and made accessible across teams, to mitigate business risks and seek more sustainable alternatives in Norway and Finland.
  • Champion across the Group and across different stakeholder fora Sustainability as a positive business value enabler/builder and a basic hygiene factor in a regulated complex industry.  
  • Work as business partner with close proximity to the line organization, champion and raise positive awareness about a “ compliance and sustainability  priority” approach to ensure Kindred Group proactively designs and runs its operations in a regulated industry on the basis of the mandatory legal requirements and standards to create a safe user experience and a reputable business, thereby generating sustainable recurring net revenue. 
  • Support and take the necessary steps to safeguard the prioritization, planning and execution of key strategical milestones in the legal risk management strategy as set out by the (Senior) Legal Manager.

 

About you

 

The Legal Counsel requires the following skills and competences:

 

  • You will be comfortable with reviewing laws & regulations and dealing with legal documentation and you have a solid understanding of regulatory requirements in at least one Nordic country, with a core focus on Norway and Finland  
  • Demonstrated experience in simultaneously successfully handling different responsibilities, in a high-pressure environment and against strict deadlines, and building on synergies between various teams and stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and decisive skills, with the ability to prioritize and communicate key objectives to achieve organizational goals while maintaining accuracy and quality
  • A hands-on, versatile and well-organised “Doer” who has proven to always go the extra mile, is a genuine team player and breathes the Kindred values, able to represent Kindred's best interests in various internal and external fora
  • Strong analytical and decisive skills, with the ability to prioritize and communicate key objectives to achieve organizational goals while maintaining accuracy and quality
  • Strong interpersonal and people skills, team player by nature and able to make fast and complex decisions and ensure buy-in from other business stakeholders based on a mutually respectable relation
  • Understanding of industry trends, both sector specific as digital in general, and ability to proactively translate them into the Kindred reality
  • Experience in dealing with dynamic multi-dimensional legal issues in a regulated industry
  • Deep understanding, implementation and contribution to the LeCo Value Chain collaborative model
  • Ability to foster open and pro-active relationships with direct functional stakeholders

 

Other relevant experience

 

  • Relevant experience: Professional qualification as lawyer or similar professional qualification. At least three years' experience in a legal role gained in-house or in a leading private practice; previous experience in a digital industry is highly desirable
  • Extensive experience in one or more of the following areas: Commercial, E-commerce, Intellectual Property, IT & Software, Media & Technology, Regulatory
  • Business fluency of English and at least one of Norwegian or Swedish. Knowledge of Finnish is meritorious.
