The role

As a Java Software Engineer you will be part of a cross-functional agile team of talented Engineers and Testers working together to build microservices for the Kindred Group platform.

Your expertise lies within Java development but there will be opportunities to technically support your colleagues on other technical domains as well. You will be eager to take ownership and develop reliable high-quality code.

You will participate in design discussions with your colleagues to find great solutions to complex engineering challenges. We strongly believe in the “You Design it, You Build It, You Test It, You Run It, You Tweak It” ethos and everyone is expected to take part of the full system life cycle to ensure reliability and uptime of the production environment.

Your experience: 

  • You have at least 5 years of experience working as a Java developer. 
  • You find the description of this role exciting and want to build scalable software in a distributed architecture, and above all are passionate about solving challenging problems in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment. 
  • You are a positive person by nature and have a passion for what you do, putting teamwork and collaboration above all else.
  • You have great communication skills and appreciate a culture where feedback sharing is encouraged to achieve not only to the success of the team, but also seen as essential to the improvement of personal and professional development.
  • You take great pride in your ability to grasp complex business scenarios and translate them into solutions with clean and performant code.
  • You stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends; keen to present and share
  • You take ownership of yourself and teams performance with high standards
  • You can analyse and resolve production issues, providing timely support to minimise downtime; happy to be 2nd-line support with some outside of office hours
  • You thrive when compliance, security, and monitoring are consistently in focus; taking ownership of quality, performance, and stability of team-owned services
