Marketing Planning Manager

The role


You will be responsible for working with multiple stakeholders across the business to identify their needs and shape this into a holistic, coordinated, centrally held marketing plan that delivers against the commercial objectives of the business.


You will establish a proactive, positive new system of governance for the business, applying this to the creation of the marketing plan.


What you will do


  • Work with multiple stakeholders across GMS and markets to identify their needs and shape this into a holistic, coordinated marketing plan to deliver against the commercial objectives of the business.
  • Work with the resource managers to ensure we have sufficient resource available to deliver against the marketing plan
  • With the other senior marketers within the team, oversee the delivery of this plan – creating one view of activity
  • Responsible for working with product marketing, marketing intelligence and brand management to write inspiring creative briefs
  • Responsible for briefing marketing services and creative teams on campaign briefs, with the output being a clear channel plan to deliver the briefs objectives and stand out creative concepts
  • Support the head of department in managing and centrally holding the marketing planning process, working with other functions and the wider marketing team, and also establishing and managing a proactive, positive governance process for the ongoing creation of the marketing plan.
  • In essence, this role is about helping piece everything together! Whilst it is a supporting role in some respects it also has its own remit and, should everything go to plan, it will be quite a hands-on marketing role.


Your experience


  • We are looking for an experienced marketer who can multi-task, be innovative and creative; self-sufficient and credible talking with internal stakeholders, agencies and creatives.
  • We're looking for someone with marketing experience from within a large and complex, matrix structured environment.
  • With experience working at a strategic and pan-organisational level you will need to be confident operating in a fast paced environment, dealing with senior level stakeholders in a marketing context, and be confident enough to push back constructively when working with them.
  • You will have the experience and ability to write clear and inspiring creative briefs
  • You will need to be a good listener with exceptional emotional intelligence and attention to detail, strong analytical and planning skills, the ability to forge effective working relationships, and the ability to quickly grasp the workings of a complex organisation and be able to translate company objectives into coherent and creative marketing plans.
