The role

We are seeking a skilled Legal Counsel for the Belgian market to join our dynamic global Legal Team.

This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact by providing crucial local legal support, ensuring compliance, and fostering strong relationships with local stakeholders.

What You'll Do

As a Legal Counsel, you'll be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:

Advising the local business on overall compliance with local laws and regulations
Reviewing and drafting legal documents and commercial contracts
Supervising advertising and promotional campaigns
Managing local litigation matters in collaboration with external lawyers
Monitoring local legislative developments and industry trends
Ensuring compliance with legal policies through training and information sessions
Conducting legal research, analyses, and preparing consolidated reports
Contributing to a collaborative group "Hub & Spoke" model between Legal, Corporate Affairs, and Compliance
Handling ad hoc legal matters as required by the business
Managing legal internal reporting processes and administrative procedures

Your Experience

To succeed in this role, you should possess:

A Belgian master's degree in law/ Strong understanding of the Belgian Law systems,
Fluency in Dutch (native speaker), English, and French
Significant years of professional experience at a business law firm or multinational (preferably listed) company in at least 3 of the following areas: consumer law, commercial law, contract law, regulatory, IP/IT & software, media & technology
Strong analytical and decision-making skills with a commercial mindset
Capability to work independently and use own initiative
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, changing business environment
Comfort with reviewing laws & regulations and dealing with legal documentation
Proactive approach to translating digital trends and legal challenges into actionable strategies
