Internal Controls Specialist 

As an Internal Controls Specialist, you will be supporting the current Internal Controls Specialist in maintaining the Financial Controls Framework. Your role will cover all aspects of the internal control's framework, from walkthroughs to testing of controls. Additionally, you will work closely with stakeholders on new processes advising them of any control needs.

 

Tasks and Deliverables

  • Support in components of the Group's Financial Internal Controls programme.
  • Walkthrough and documentation of processes and controls, using process narratives, flowcharts and risk and control matrices.
  • Test design and operating effectiveness of controls.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and proactively communicate these to Director of Audit and Controls.
  • Monitor and support stakeholders with remediation of controls.
  • Escalate control issues timely.
  • Produce templates for policies and procedures and review ones created by stakeholders.
  • Review self-assessments completed by the business.  
  • Support the delivery and maintenance of all areas including entity level controls.
  • Work closely with stakeholders across the organisation including, HR, Finance etc. 
  • Complete annual fraud risk assessment.

Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate for this position will have prior experience of designing and implementing Internal Controls for a large corporation.

  • ACA, ACCA or CIA (or equivalent) qualified professional.
  • 3+ years' experience in internal controls.
  • Strong understanding of internal controls and SOx concepts using frameworks such as COSO.
  • Ability to work autonomously.
  • Display excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent writing & verbal communication skills. You will be able to communicate effectively with different audiences such as senior leader and process owners.
  • Proactive stakeholder management and ability to influence.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • A strong knowledge of business processes, workflows, data flows.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience using data analytics.
  • Experience in with non-financial reporting.
  • Experience in AML controls reviews.
  • ITGC testing experience.
