We're now looking to bring onboard an interim IP/Commercial legal counsel to support throughout a maternity leave anticipated to run for around 10 months.

At Kindred we're embracing a hybrid working model, meaning you can blend remote and office based working around the needs of the position.

What you'll do:

  • Provide legal guidance on IP related matters (domains, copyright, trademarks, use of image rights, etc.), in particular relating to group marketing campaigns and content posted onsite and offsite;
  • Organise tailored workshops on the importance of securing brand protection, creating brand awareness and the do's and don'ts in terms of advertising for all relevant internal stakeholders;
  • Act as the primary point of contact in relation to group-wide IP and advertising matters to commercial stakeholders and serve as an escalation point for complex IP matters;
  • Ability to manage and keep up to date Kindred Group's policies on marketing, IPR, specific events etc;
  • Ability to work on a wide range of IP-related contracts (licences, assignments, service agreements, etc.);
  • Experience managing and resolving IP disputes (IP infringement claims, infringement of image rights, or other contentious matters related to media and entertainment);
  • Handle and manage the Group's IPR portfolio (strategy optimisation, budget allocation, enforcement, etc.) and work closely with external partners and agencies;
  • Work with the rest of the legal team on a wide range of legal matters which will not be strictly limited to IP (commercial law, payments, data protection etc);
  • Liaise and manage, when necessary, with external counsel/suppliers on IP matters.

About you:

  • A qualified solicitor with proven experience in either a reputable firm or as in-house counsel
  • The ideal candidate will have had exposure to tech/digital businesses
  • A proven track record in IP law (soft/hard IP, software, IP portfolio management) and contract law
  • Knowledge of marketing-related issues (advertising, assignment of rights, image rights, etc.) and consumer regulation
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • A capacity to work  independently but an equally good team player
  • Someone who seeks and takes opportunities to create where there is a gap
  • Strong drafting skills
  • Fluency in English (a second European language would be a bonus but certainly not essential).
