Job Purpose/Summary


The Interim HR Business Partner USA (9-month Fixed Term Contract) will be a key part of the Organizational Effectiveness team and is responsible for delivering a full range of HR services across our US offices. You will work very closely with our Centers of Excellence to ensure we deliver a great employee experience and create a culture of ‘self-service' for all US staff.


This role is both generalist and strategic in nature, working in close collaboration with the local US Management team to ensure our HR deliverables are aligned with their ambitious targets.


Duties and Responsibilities


  • Responsible for all aspects of the employee lifecycle for US employees including, but not limited to; onboarding & orientation, payroll & benefits, supporting work permits and visa applications, maintenance of HR systems and offboarding; all the while ensuring we are fully HR compliant in accordance with local legislation. 
  • Provide consultancy and advice on all HR related matters, ensuring adherence to all legal and best practice obligations including employment law, employee relations, disciplinary and grievances (complaints), performance management, change management/restructuring and absence management.
  • Identify any employee relations trends and proactively put actions in place as a means of prevention, this may include providing relevant training, the creation of additional policies/manager guides and/or execution of local initiatives e.g. putting Mental Health First Aiders in place.
  • Partner with the local US Management Team, supporting them with the ongoing future design of the US operating model and ensure capacity planning is aligned with our footprint strategy for the US while staying close to talent acquisition requirements.
  • Create a structured onboarding and orientation plan for all new starters ensuring a ‘first in class' employee experience. This also includes the creation of a probation review framework and supporting managers with specific onboarding training plans for their teams.
  • Deliver upon a Talent Development strategy for our US employees and leaders, identifying capability gaps and ensuring the relevant training is captured as part of the US Learning Needs Analysis. This will also include the delivery of in-house training, with a focus on management training for new leaders.
  • Provide advice and guidance on Personal Development Plans, and through our talent identifiers, recognize employees with high potential, develop career paths in consideration of key roles for succession planning and self-development.
  • Embed a performance management culture within the US as a means of delivering high performing teams by ensuring clear objectives, feedback and the improvement of performance delivery.
  • Create an employee retention strategy for the US, proactively identifying employee ‘pain points', using data to drive decision making and action planning. This may include a review of our reward structure, talent management processes, leadership capability, employee wellbeing and collaboration/communication across different teams. 
  • Support managers with employee engagement action planning using the data from our quarterly pulse surveys to drive improvement and ensure a continued focus, including working closely with our office manager and ensuring strategic initiatives are driven through a local ‘engagement group'.
  • Demonstrate expertise in technical HR areas and develop innovative solutions related to HR systems and current HR processes

What have you done?


  • Experience working in a generalist role.
  • Experience working with senior management in the delivery of an excellent HR service.
  • You must be able to guide and drive the business in all HR aspects, ultimately being a champion for HR process and policies in our US offices.
  • Great time management and able to manage multiple pieces of work at the same time
  • A strong focus on delivering great customer service to internal customers
  • Comfortable working autonomously but equally happy asking for support when required.
  • Excellent knowledge of US employment law and translating this to HR policies and practice.
  • You should be happy working on ground level HR work but also able to step up to a more strategic level when required.
  • Experience with using, mastering and sharing best practice for HR Systems.
  • Sequoia or Workday experience would be desirable but not essential.
