Interim Direct Tax lead

Six month interim position to support the preparation and delivery of our monthly, quarterly and year end Tax reporting requirements.

The role


Reporting to the Group Head of Tax and Reporting, you will join a growing Tax team taking ownership for the Group direct tax compliance and reporting as well as play a key role in the supporting the business in the implementation of its strategy.  


What you'll do: 


  • Work closely with the Exec, the Finance Leadership team and the Transfer Pricing team to provide the best solutions for the Group's direct tax affairs
  • Create policies and deliver them to drive effective direct tax solutions and ensure full compliance across the Group
  • Raise the profile of our tax strategies and partner with the business to ensure compliance
  • Drive operational efficiencies by implementing technology solutions to improve visibility and control over the tax function
  • Lead project work
  • In addition you will be accountable for our tax priorities which includes:
    • Ensuring the Group implements its direct tax strategy driving value to the business
    • Identifying and mitigating tax risks across the Group in line with our business models
    • Being repsonsible for the preparation of the year end and quarterly tax accounts and relating IFRS disclosure
    • Liaising with our external tax consultants
    • Liaising with tax authorities and partners for tax compliance
    • Ensuring compliance and effectiveness of Direct tax processes and documentation and maintain oversight of the company's overseas tax reporting requirements
    • Continuing to raise the profile of our Group tax models in the business and advise on tax strategies in line with commercial objectives
    • Owning existing Direct tax guidelines, policies and methodologies
    • Leading and support the team to work on projects that may involve significant tax impacts across the Group
    • Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of taxation ensuring Kindred remains at the forefront of taxation in the digital and gambling economy
    • Partnering with the broader tax and reporting team regarding different tax matters (e.g. transfer pricing, international tax projects).
    • Building strong relationships both internally and externally with tax advisors and/or relevant stakeholders.

About you:


  • Professional qualification in tax and/or accountancy (CTA and/or ACA)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of international tax matters would be highly beneficial as the Group has a vast international footprint
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Be a recognised expert in the field of Direct tax
  • Track record of leading teams and taking personal ownership of the tax agenda and driving best practice and commercial benefit from tax strategies
  • Strong understanding of global accounting and economic concepts
  • Excellent analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills
  • Highly organised individual with excellent attention to detail, self-motivated and takes ownership of projects
  • Natural leadership skills and partner well with people at all levels within an organization


Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK full time without restriction and able to start at short notice.
