About the role

 

This role reports directly to the Head of UX and is focused on delivering truly outstanding experiences across Kindred’s group of brands and products. Working as part of the UX Management team you will work alongside UX Architects, User Researchers and UX Operations to ensure a “One Team” approach to the delivery of our user centred design approach.

This new senior role will work to both grow and mature a team of UI Designers, but also raise the stature of the existing team within the wider business. Taking on design centric initiatives the Head of UI Design will set the direction by which to deliver the visual identity of our brands.

As a manager the role will require working with a team of 6+ designers to ensure career development and support Kindred’ core values.

As Kindred has grown from a single to multi-brand company there is a need to ensure quality is maintained, while driving for delivery efficiency but not at the expense of our brands individuality. To ensure the complexity of this balance is achieved there is a need to provide a more defined governance layer to customer facing change across all of our brands, countries and products.

You will be measured on your ability to build the strongest possible UI Design team driving a truly world class user experience.

 

Key Responsibilities of this role are:

 

  • Contribute to the business’ overall user experience strategy
  • Manage and lead a team of UI Designers ensuring their development and career plans are constantly monitored
  • Work with our central brand team and commercial brand owners to ensure the individuality of the brands shines through
  • Drive the ongoing maintenance of our UI component library alongside UX Architects, developers and business stakeholders
  • Work with senior stakeholders to deliver against the business’ commercial objectives
  • Lead on key projects where necessary
  • Work with team delivery leads to ensure resources are deployed in the most effective way
  • Take ownership of our design, ensuring a best in class level of quality

 

We're looking for someone with the following skills, knowledge, and experience

 

  • Fluency in English (both written and spoken) is absolutely required (additional languages would be an advantage);
  • Has experience working across multiple brands
  • Has worked with central brand teams in delivering the digital expression of a brand
  • In depth knowledge of industry best-practise and is constantly evaluating new trends for their suitability
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and in outlining design strategy to all sections of a business
  • Has experience of managing a team, preferably across multiple geographic locations
  • Has experience working with 3rd party venders and agencies
  • Has experience working with senior business stakeholder to C-suite level
  • A strong understanding of designing for responsive websites, native mobile applications within the same product set
  • Can make short term decisions while retaining a long-term view
  • A detailed understanding of business and commercial objectives
