The role

Our ideal candidate will have an excellent knowledge of mathematics and odds with a strong analytical background and a proven ability to drive long term P&L of sports pre-match and in play bookmaking, through customer management. They must possess first class communication skills with the ability to liaise at all levels. They will have the enthusiasm to drive and enhance our existing product, manage a team of risk managers, possibly across multiple locations, including remote working.

Shift patterns are variable, to include days, evenings, weekends and bank holidays and may also include early, evening and night working hours. You will need to be aware of our product breadth and how that competes in the market place, understand local market requirements including any specific commercial executions and be able to work proactively with the other Sportsbook stakeholders to further enhance our operations and offering.

What you will do

  • Lead and develop a team of risk management staff, possibly across multiple locations, that will support your KPIs in the role of Head of Risk Management
  • Overall responsibility for assigning customers to the correct risk cohort, considering all player action across the Group
  • Manage a large team of risk managers responsible for working with the Commercial teams to ensure minimising bonus abuse against the need for attractive promotional activities
  • Manage the handling of real-time HNW bet referrals in a timely and appropriate fashion
  • Work with the Trading team to ensure an optimal laying strategy across individual and groups of customers
  • Work with Sportsbook Control to ensure optimal laying and overround strategy across all of our markets
  • Manage the liability tolerance across sports / events etc across all of our markets and customers
  • Analyse cross sections of our Sportsbook trading performance with a view to optimisation
  • Work with the Quant and Data Science teams to develop our proprietary trading and risk algorithms and propensity models
  • Work with Player Safety / Responsible Gaming as appropriate
  • Liaise with the Sportsbook Control department to ensure appropriate provision of resource in line with business requirements
  • Assist in the business operation process within the overall Sportsbook department as required
  • There may be a requirement to work a shift pattern including evenings, weekends and bank holidays to meet the needs of the business

Your experience

  • Experience in leading and developing a team.
  • In depth demonstrable knowledge of the methods and maths that apply to bookmaking
  • Excellent analytical background with the ability to relate to both business and technical functions, including an understanding of the application of advanced data usage through quantitative analysis (price modelling, propensity modelling, trading algorithms etc)
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to deliver solutions in exacting timelines and demanding environments
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft office products particularly Excel
  • Understanding of customer profiling and behavioural trends
  • A keen interest in sports and/or sports betting
  • Hard working, flexible and enthusiastic about meeting challenges with solutions
  • Industry experience is essential for this role
  • Native level English language skills
