The role

 

Reporting to the Group Head of Tax and Reporting, as the Head of Direct Tax you will join a growing Tax team, taking ownership for the Group direct tax strategy, planning and implementation.  

 

This role will see someone take a leadership role in:

 

  • Setting the strategy and direction for the Group Direct Tax
  • Partnering with the Exec, the Finance Leadership team and the Transfer Pricing team to drive best solutions for the Group's direct tax affairs in the short and long term
  • Create policies and deliver them to drive effective direct tax solutions and ensure full compliance across the Group
  • Raise the profile of our tax strategies and partner with the business to ensure compliance
  • Drive operational efficiencies by implementing technology solutions to improve visibility and control over the tax function
  • Lead project work

 

In addition you will manage the Direct Tax team and be accountable for our tax strategies, this includes:

 

  • Lead on ensuring the Group has the right overall Direct tax strategy driving value to the business
  • Identify and mitigate tax risk across the Group in line with our business models
  • Responsible for the preparation of the year end and quarterly tax accounts and relating IFRS disclosure
  • Manage key relationships with our external tax consultants
  • Manage key relationships with tax authorities and partners for tax compliance
  • Ensuring compliance and effectiveness of Direct tax processes and documentation and maintain oversight of the company's overseas tax reporting requirements
  • Continue to raise the profile of our Group tax models in the business and advise on tax strategies in line with commercial objectives
  • Manage the Direct tax team, mentoring, leading and developing the capability of the team
  • Owner of existing Direct tax guidelines, policies and methodologies
  • Lead and support the team to work on projects that may involve significant tax impacts across the Group
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of taxation ensuring Kindred remains at the forefront of taxation in the digital and gambling economy
  • Partner with the broader tax and reporting team regarding different tax matters (e.g. transfer pricing, international tax projects).
  • Hold strong relationships both internally and externally with tax advisors and/or relevant stakeholders.

 

Kindred prides itself on being a collaborative and personable environment; as such a key challenge for this role is to have the ability to drive collaboration, team spirit and personal accountability within the tax team and communicate with people across the Group in different jurisdictions.  In addition, you should have: 

 

  • 8+ years of experience
  • Professionally qualified in tax and/or accountancy (CTA and/or ACAC
  • Comprehensive knowledge of international tax matters would be highly beneficial as the Group has a vast international footprint
  • Have excellent communication skills
  • A recognized expert in the field of Direct tax
  • The track record of leading teams and taking personal ownership of the tax agenda and driving best practice and commercial benefit from tax strategies
  • Strong understanding of global accounting and economic concepts
  • Excellent analytical, technical, and problem-solving skill
  • Highly organised individual with excellent attention to detail, self-motivated and takes ownership of projects
  • Able to exhibit natural leadership skills and partner well with people at all levels within an organization
