About the role 

As an Engineering Manager, you will be part of the Product Engineering domain, and be responsible for two cross-functional Agile Engineering Teams with Software Engineers and Testers working within our Gaming area. You will report to the Senior Engineering Manager and be part of an active and competent group of Engineering Managers whom you will collaborate closely with alongside with other stakeholders within the business.

In this role, your primary focus will be to nurture and support the team's career and personal development by continuously foster a learning culture – both on an individual and team level, and ensure that each team member has the necessary resources to progress and thrive in the team and at Kindred. 
 
While you will need to have knowledge in your tech discipline to be able to support and understand your team members work, your focus will not be on the deep technical aspects of each team's work. Instead, your role requires a deep understanding of people management in order to keep the team motivated and engaged. 

 
What you will do

  • Take responsibility for the growth and personal development of your team members 
  • Inspire, coach and challenge each team member as required 
  • Be part of a group of Engineering Managers who, work on bigger inititives within the business to continuously evolve Kindred's culture 
  • Recruit top talent with support from our Talent Acquisition Partners 
  • Collaborate with many parts of the organisation to improve ways of working (including QA, PO, Architects, Application Management etc) 
  • Be the main support and enabler for development teams to ensure their daily work is always enjoyable 
  • Work with the other Engineering Managers to meet business demands  

 
To excel in this role, we believe you have..

  • Commercial experience in a leadership and people management role with responsibilities including: salary reviews, performance reviews, development plans, 1:1s and recruitment 
  • A technical background in QA or software development, ideally Java, Web or Native app development 
  • Experience and are used to working in a Lean and Agile domain within a fast-paced culture  
  • Track record of building successful teams, supporting and mentoring team members by always having an individual first approach and inspiring others to improve
