Data Engineer


Kindred is looking for a highly skilled Data Engineer to join the Data Engineering team whose vision is to drive and support Kindred to be the most data-driven gambling company in the world!

As part of our US expansion, this new and exciting role based in our office in Nevada will give the opportunity to become the first person to join our data team in the US. This is a great opportunity to help lead this new team which we're looking to grow and be a proxy between our central data team in the EU and our US stakeholders. Joining this team, you will be playing a big part in the way we shape our US business by closely collaborating with various stakeholders across the business and ensure they get the most out of the data in terms of reporting, statistics and form the basis of the decision making and analytical processes.

What you will do

  • Design, enhance and implement data ingestion from wider range of data sources like databases, domain events, Kakfa topics, Rest API, SFTP files onto our On Prem and Cloud platforms
  • Develop and maintain reporting solutions in both Cloud and On-Prem Data Warehouse using tools like Oracle APEX, Qlik sense and AWS Quicksight
  • Develop advanced Oracle PL/SQL packages/procedures, write and optimize/tune queries over large data sets
  • Data investigations and problem-solving from internal and external stakeholders
  • Proactively engage with stakeholders from requirements gathering phase through to delivery of reporting solutions
  • Supporting Data Platforms (including occasional on-call support & incident management)
  • Work in an Agile way with open communication, while delivering top quality products and service

Your experience

  • Strong background working with Oracle databases (12c and above) in a Developer/Analyst role using Oracle SQL and PL/SQL
  • Experience in developing dashboards and reporting solution for business end-users
  • Experience in dealing with large data volumes, tuning of SQL queries, reports and processes
  • Good understanding of Data Warehouse concepts with preferably 5+ years working with data
  • Good communication skills with previous experience in stakeholder/customer engagement
  • Knowledge of any basic cloud architecture (e.g. AWS)
  • Good attitude and willingness to learn new skills and technologies

An Advantage

  • Experience with reporting tools (e.g. APEX, Qliksense and AWS Quicksight)
  • Working knowledge with other programming languages like Python or core Java
  • Hands on experience with Kafka 
  • Exposure to AWS services like S3, Glue, Lambda, EMR and AWS Redshift
