The role

We are looking for an Architect to join our Data Department! #LI-Hybrid

Kindred's ambition is to be fully data-driven, work smarter, and enable using data in new ways to drive revenues and provide a better and unique experience for our customers.

Kindred wants to make sure we have a best-in-class data platform that lets us excel on these initiatives. We are right now in the process of taking our data platform to the next level. When building our new platform, we consider new exciting parameters like how to best use the cloud and what could be more suitable for on-premise. Other aspects to consider are how we best support going into new geographical regions and how we best design our platform for scalability and with a cost-effective approach.

 

Our vision is to drive and support Kindred to become and be recognised as the most data-driven gambling company globally!

 

To support this vision, we have four Data teams focusing on different areas.

Our Data Pipeline & ML engineering team manages our real-time and batch flow of data into our Data platform and builds and maintains ML applications supporting Kindred with initiatives like personalisation, automation, and efficient decision-making using smart algorithms, often in real-time. Our Data Engineering team focuses on enriching and making sense out of the raw data to be ready for any BI or analytics requirements. Our BI & Reporting team is a very business facing team focusing on delivering top-class self-service, reporting and other solutions that support efficient data-driven decision making. Our Gibraltar Data team focuses on our UK focused brands and building and maintaining a platform for these needs, including Data Warehousing and BI.

We are a department of skilled data engineers, all passionate about delivering top-class data solutions using what technology is best fit for the purpose.

The architect we are looking for will join the Data Department supporting the whole Data department.

If you have enterprise experience designing data solutions, are up to date with tools, technologies, and best practices, enjoy the challenge of designing our new data platform, and have great communication and collaboration skills, this could be the role for you!

 

What you will do

  • Identify options for how to best design our data components with performance, data quality, cost control, ease of maintenance and business value for our stakeholders in mind.
  • Facilitate technical workshops and design discussions on a daily basis together with the Data teams and also with other teams outside the Data department
  • Shape and design the building blocks for the data department to support business requirements now and in the future
  • Work out technical standards and best practices across the Data teams that help us improve quality and time to market.
  • Support our transformation into a more real-time focused data platform and how we best our future stakeholders needs and also take technical requirements into account
  • Proactively and continuously review our architecture, Identify opportunities for the use of existing or new and innovative technology in delivering more effective business outcomes.
  • Support shaping the roadmap and vision around cloud adoption for the data department
  • Design data processing pipelines and workflows to support data democratisation and business decisions.
  • Analyse and architect data applications together with the teams
  • Designing solutions that facilitate an effective feedback loop and deployment model for Machine Learning applications
  • Focus on removing complexity in our systems and improving agility
  • Support designing processes to ensure smooth operation
  • Be technology agnostic while ensuring the technology choices are viable and business focused and have a TCO and ROI.
  • Work closely with the central Enterprise Architect team to make sure processes, high-level requirements and long-term architectural goals are aligned.

 

Your experience

  • Have a strong data engineering & architectural background designing data-intensive applications and data structures at the enterprise level, always with cost control and business value in mind
  • You fully understand key concepts in the data ecosystem and can understand, describe and assess the pros and cons for different design options and how to drive value with data.
  • You know how to get value out of things like data pipelines, real-time data, data aggregations, big data, machine learning, data warehousing, business intelligence, self-service and their role in the data ecosystem.
  • You have extensive experience working with different data technologies both on a high level and being hands-on.
  • You fully understand key concepts around information security, architectural frameworks and DevOps methodologies.
  • You have experience with managing data at the enterprise level, where data quality and governance are essential.
  • Have experience dealing with data in a batch way and real-time when it comes to ingesting, aggregating, consuming and visualising in a context where many terabytes of data need to be handled.
  • You are fluent in designing data structures and know the pros and cons of different design options.
  • Experience with Big Data technologies and machine learning, how different technologies could be used and how to integrate them.

  • You are an AWS cloud professional certified architect
  • You are familiar with TOGAF
  • You stay up to date with the latest trends, tools & technologies, and best practices in the data area
  • You follow what benefits cloud offerings could give and what challenges must be considered.
  • You are curious about finding different technical options for how to solve a problem
  • You think about technologies as tools available to solve a business need
  • You enjoy running workshops using the whiteboard for discussing options and design
  • You are a great communicator and able to talk about technology also with less experienced people
  • You are passionate about always improving our solutions
  • You enjoy taking initiative and are self-motivated to do a great job
