BI Data Engineer

 

The role

 

Our Business Intelligence and Reporting team needs a BI Data Engineer to develop and maintain data warehouse solutions, the main aim being to extract key data in terms of reporting and statistics. This data establishes a firm basis for all our decision-making and analytical processes.

 

You will set up and manage data aggregates, schedule jobs and reports, as well as innovate and implement changes to how our data is used. This role requires interaction with other departments to gather requirements before implementing and supporting solutions.

 

What you will do

 

  • Use your great attention to detail to gather BI information
  • Proactively ensure that reports are accurate, timely and meet stakeholders' requirements
  • Create and maintain PL/SQL packages
  • Develop new reports and maintain current ones
  • Challenge existing processes and propose improvements
  • Investigate data to solve problems
  • Recommend best practices (testing, documentation and development)

Your experience

 

    • Advanced SQL writing and optimisation
    • Experience of Java
    • Experience of SQL on a relational & non-relational database
    • Knowledge of Real Time, big-data processing; e.g. Spark & Kafka
    • Experienced at dealing with large volumes of data
    • Setting up of dashboards and reports for end users
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
    • Great attention to detail and excellence
    • Passionate about complex data structures and problem-solving
    • A passion for learning and developing with a growth mindset 
    • Logical and scrutinizing
    • Able to pick up new data tools/concepts quickly

 

An advantage

 

  • Experience of Oracle (11g and above) SQL and PL/SQL
  • Knowledge of Python or Scala
  • Qlik Sense and Apex experience
  • Understanding of data warehouse concepts
