Accounting Manager - Tax


The role,

The role will be a key member of Kindred's growing finance team in North America and provide an exciting opportunity to help shape the tax positions and processes across both US and Canada operating groups. You will play an important part in supporting various tax initiatives while partnering with business stakeholders, our European tax team and state tax departments. The role will be expected to support tax related month end accounting processes and support the local finance team in a number of ongoing finance projects. The Accounting Manager will be supported by both the Financial Controller and VP Finance.

What you will do

  • Establish a tax compliance framework for Kindred North America
  • Liaise with international, federal, state, and local taxing authorities and regulatory bodies
  • Manage the wagering and gaming tax compliance and reporting processes
  • Manage the tax notice resolution process, including preparing a summary of findings and provide updates to the Financial Controller on the status of outstanding notices. Call into the state or IRS to request additional information/ details where needed.
  • Manage the informational reporting and withholding compliance processes (i.e., 1099, 1042, and W-2G reporting) with a focus on improving the customer experience
  • Gathering information and preparing the Sales and Use Tax Returns on an annual basis
  • Manage a variety of ancillary tax processes (e.g., business & occupation taxes, personal property taxes, local business tax filings, etc.)
  • Assist the Kindred Group Tax Department with a wide variety of tax planning projects
  • Manage relationships with the other internal business functions, and our tax and legal advisors
  • Manage partnership with our registered agents in US and Canada, and resulting annual filings. Including the incorporation of new entities.
  • Keep up to date with North American tax and regulatory guidelines
  • Liaise with both US and Canada external auditors

Your experience

  • At least 3-5 years accounting and tax experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance / Accounting
  • CPA license desirable
  • Confident to propose implement process improvements
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communications skills
  • Attention to detail, strong analytical skills
  • Proactive and able to work autonomously
  • Self-starter, outgoing, looking to excel and make a difference
  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel
  • Some travel may be required

Compensation Package:

$100,000 - $140,000 Base Annual, plus bonus, 401k and medical benefits
