Location and lifestyle in Stockholm

Did you know that Stockholm consists of one third water and one third green space? Spread over a chain of 14 main islands rich with amid forests and lakes, it’s both unique and charming. You can enjoy peaceful parks, frozen lakes and a quiet forest strolls, all within 15 minutes’ walk of the city centre. In fact, despite being the most populated urban area of Sweden, Stockholm is so green that it hardly feels like a capital city at all.

Stockholmers love the great outdoors and spend much of the warmer months enjoying barbecues, the countryside, sailing, swimming and other sports. They even make the most of winters to go skiing, ice skating or sledding.

In terms of culture, expect sleek museums, gourmet restaurants and cutting-edge designs, along with medieval streets, concert halls – and don’t forget the ABBA Museum, home of everyone’s favourite Eurovision winners. It may even have you singing Mamma Mia for days on end!

As Stockholm is a relatively small city compared with others in Europe, people tend to live outside the city centre, normally up to 40 minutes’ commute away. But with a world-class transport network at your disposal, getting to work is no problem at all.
