The role

We are seeking a seasoned Test Automation Engineer proficient in leveraging Cypress/Playwright/Appium for automated testing to join our QA team. In this role, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining robust automated test suites to ensure the quality and reliability of our product. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in software testing, a deep understanding of test automation principles, and extensive hands-on experience with Cypress/Playwright/Appium.

What you will do

  • Design and implement highly modular and extensible test automation frameworks leveraging Cypress/Playwright/Appium to achieve comprehensive coverage of web and mobile applications.
  • Design the test framework to support various types of tests, API , UI including end-to-end (E2E), integration, and component-level tests, ensuring flexibility and scalability.
  • Utilize automation tool's fixtures and plugins to manage test data and enhance test case maintainability and reusability across different test suites and environments.
  • Implement automation tool's custom commands and utilities to encapsulate common testing patterns, interactions, and assertions, promoting code readability and reducing duplication
  • Collaborate closely with software engineers and product stakeholders to define and prioritize test scenarios based on business requirements and user stories, ensuring alignment with acceptance criteria.
  • Participate in feature discussions, design reviews, and sprint planning sessions to identify critical paths, edge cases, and user flows for test coverage prioritization.
  • Employ automation tool's interceptors and mocks to simulate external dependencies, APIs, and services, enabling isolated testing of application components and behaviors.
  • Integrate automated tests seamlessly into the CI/CD pipeline for continuous validation of code changes, leveraging automation tool's parallelization and distributed testing capabilities to accelerate feedback loops and reduce time to market.  
  • Analyze test results, identify patterns, and prioritize test automation enhancements and optimizations based on code coverage metrics, test execution trends, and defect density analysis.
  • Utilize automation tool's code coverage reports and integration with code quality tools (e.g., Codecov, SonarQube) to assess the effectiveness of test automation efforts and identify areas for additional test coverage.
  • Collaborate with developers to implement appropriate software development methodology like Test-driven Development (TDD) / Behavior-driven development (BDD) and incorporate test automation into the development workflow, promoting a culture of quality and accountability.

Your experience

  • Experience with other test automation frameworks/tools such as Selenium, WebDriverIO. Familiarity with containerisation technologies (e.g., Docker) and orchestration tools (e.g., Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Experienced in cloud-native testing approaches and strategies for testing cloud-based applications and services, including API testing, microservices testing, and serverless architecture testing.
