The role

As a Software Engineer at Kindred, you are a team player contributing to deliveries. Key to this role is learning continuously in practice, particularly from more senior colleagues.

What you will do

  • Drive technical solutions from design to production.
  • Create test automation for scalable software in a distributed architecture.
  • Consider what is good for the products in the long term when you make design decisions.
  • Set the technical expectations on the whole team by both producing and setting high expectations on the team delivery.
  • Proactive in communication towards all stakeholders including team.
  • Solve challenging problems in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  • Run backend and frontend testing both manually and automatically.
  • Follow best practice guidelines provided and Tech process.
  • Release components to production and keeping them up to date with appropriate versioning.
  • Responsible for their own learning.
  • Ensure that you adhere to the Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) obligations for your role.
  • Identify and raise any non-compliance incidents promptly to your line manager.
  • Challenge processes, policies and projects that will negatively impact compliance within the Group.
  • Complete all mandatory compliance training assigned to you.
  • Reach out to the Compliance Teams if unsure of any of your compliance obligations or the requirements are unclear.

Your experience

  • Understand the architecture of the team's components, business area the team works in and a grasp of the non-functional requirements.
  • Competent in the relevant programming languages.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Able to follow the agile process used by the team.
  • Understand how to give and receive feedback.
  • Experience of applying different test approaches.
  • Experience working as Incident manager.
  • Able to make a release of a component to production.
  • Has an appreciation for need to do secure development and knowledge of OWASP.
  • Able to troubleshoot in case of problems.
