The role

The Quant Team is focused on developing quantitative sport models - taking models from prototype to production. The Quant Team is split into two areas - Quant Research and Quant Engineering - and is an important component in the future evolution of our Sportsbook Platform. We are looking to recruit a talented Senior Quantitative Engineering Manager to drive forward our engineering efforts.

What you will do

  • Own, lead and take accountability for multiple engineering-driven workstreams focussed on delivering Quant-powered products to meet business requirements and under agreed timescales and constraints
  • Work closely with business owners and POs on product requirements and strategic roadmaps
  • Set product-driven goals and quarterly milestones and work with Managers and ETLs to plan, sequence and oversee engineering-led work on a quarterly basis
  • Drive engineering alignment and sequencing of work within cross-team squads on areas of overlap cutting across Quant and Pricing Engineering
  • Take lead in resolving Quant Engineering blockers, ensuring issues are raised, surfaced and escalated constructively and risks are mitigated swiftly
  • Liaise with Heads and Managers to streamline the development of high-quality and accessible data assets to support the work of the Quant Team and wider business
  • Refine and optimise Quant Engineering ways of working and take the lead in strategic/enabling initiatives, including design and implementation of scalable frameworks and tooling
  • Support the evolution of Quant Engineering and take responsibility for ensuring any future expansion of the team is implemented smoothly
  • Manage, support and get the best out of Manager and Senior/Staff reports and support up-skilling and professional development on Quant Engineering side.
  • Take lead role in Quant Engineering recruitment and Quant Engineering org planning, including skills gaps and succession planning
  • Lead initiatives to reinforce Quant Team culture
  • Synch, learn from and align with Senior Engineering Managers from other domains and build out effective networks across the business
  • Actively promote Quant Engineering work internally and externally, representing the team credibly as and when required
  • Hands-off in terms of coding although technical background is very much expected
  • Set and uphold high standards through your work and behaviours
  • Ensure that you, and your team, adhere to the Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) obligations within your direct responsibility and control.
  • Ensure any non-compliance incidents within your team are raised through the appropriate channels (Compliance Incidents Process) and that your team are informed of any reporting processes relevant to them.
  • Challenge processes, policies and projects that will negatively impact compliance within the Group.
  • Ensure your team's completion of all mandatory compliance trainings within the set deadline.
  • Reach out to the Compliance Teams if unsure of any of your compliance obligations or the requirements are unclear.

Expected Attributes:

  • Extensive managerial experience, line managing and project managing Quants, Data Scientists or Engineers combined with coaching/mentoring experience.
Extensive commercial experience with a track record of delivering data-driven products from prototype to production.
Experience leading the development and implementation of solutions and products focussed on modelling of sporting data and/or delivery of pricing.
Able to interact in a constructive and positive manner with key stakeholders driving change and resolving blockers to ensure successful delivery of products and recommendations to support decision making
Experience planning out roadmaps with demonstrable success hitting milestones and goals.
Demonstrable success building relationships with a range of stakeholders and delivering on their needs.
Knowledge and experience in cloud computing, ideally AWS.
Able to develop vision and strategy and support Heads
