The role

Online Casino is one of the core products at Kindred, a market leader in responsible gambling. It is with the aim of offering the best, safest and most relevant experience to our customers that we leverage Machine Learning and AI to personalise our casino experience. 

For that, we are looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join forces with Machine Learning Engineers, Business Analysts and product teams to deliver state of art solutions. As part of this process, you will be responsible for developing Data Science models, aligning roadmaps, support the growth of the Data Science team, and work closely with Machine Learning Engineers to productionise and A/B test solutions across different markets. 

From recommender systems to advanced search personalisation, there is no shortage of exciting and challenging projects for you apply your experience. Maintaining and improving current solutions, proposing and delivering new workstreams, engaging with key stakeholders across the business, and fostering a culture of excellence are some of the keys to success in this role. As the team grows you will also be expected to support and guide junior team members to broaden their skills and efficiency. 

 

What you will do

  • Take ownership of execution against our Casino Personalisation roadmap by overseeing tech prioritisation and balancing hands-on contributions with strong stakeholder engagement. 
  • Take joint accountability with ML Engineering for the lifecycle of ML data products as they transition from research to production. 
  • Identification of skill gaps and proactively addressing them, ensuring continuous skill development. 
  • Maintain strong relationships and communication at the interfaces of our domain, namely with our business owners and engineering teams. 
  • Contribute to building a culture of excellence within the wider Data Science, and MLE organisations by aligning tools, best practice, process, and governance. 
  • Raise the profile of the team by actively promoting work and team contributions across the organization. 
  • Hands-on with delivery along with mentoring experience is desirable 

 

Your experience

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in a STEM subject. 
  • In-depth understanding and experience of recommender systems 
  • Advanced knowledge of machine learning algorithms, general statistical methodologies and theory. 
  • Advanced knowledge of A/B testing and design of experiment. 
  • Exemplary Python programming and SQL skills, experience using Spark for processing large datasets. 
  • Familiarity with cloud computing platforms, preferably experience with Amazon Web Services. 
  • Understanding of software product development processes and governance, including CI/CD processes, release and change management. 
  • Understanding of machine learning product lifecycle, and how scientists and engineers collaborate in cross-functional product teams.  
  • Understanding of ML deployment paradigms including batch, event driven, and request-response. 
  • Knowledge of GitOps processes for testing and deployment, e.g. Jenkins and Terraform. Broad awareness of software development practice. 
  • Passionate about the personal development of self and team members. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to explain complex concepts to stakeholders. 
  • A problem-solving growth mindset with the ability to pick up new concepts quickly. 
  • Good to have knowledge of Generative AI and NLP. 
  • Ensure that you adhere to the Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) obligations for your role. 
  • Identify and raise any non-compliance incidents promptly to your line manager. 
  • Challenge processes, policies and projects that will negatively impact compliance within the Group. 
  • Complete all mandatory compliance training assigned to you. 
  • Reach out to the Compliance Teams if unsure of any of your compliance obligations or the requirements are unclear.
