The role 

As a Cloud Engineer, you will be building new and creative data solutions within a dynamic, fast-paced agile team. In this role, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of our business by designing, developing, and implementing scalable cloud-based solutions that meet the evolving needs of our organization.

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Design, develop, and maintain data processing applications using Java, Scala, Spring Boot, and Apache Spark.
  • Facilitate Data flow across different AWS services and platforms in real-time.
  • Integrate various data sources, such as the integrations of Internal or External systems to Kafka and ensure data quality and consistency.
  • Develop Spark applications for processing large-scale data on Amazon EMR.
  • Build and optimize Data Lake on AWS to support Data Analytics and Reporting needs.
  • Development of cloud based-applications (e.g. Kafka streaming applications etc.).
  • Support and maintain applications, including on-call support & incident management by proactively resolving incidents, coordinating effectively with any relevant teams involved.
  • Be a champion of innovation. Initiates and experiments with new ideas and approaches that support our data strategy.
  • Adhere to best practices by writing clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
  • Conduct thorough testing and participate in code reviews to ensure high-quality application delivery, while maintaining data security and compliance within the AWS environment.

 

Skills, knowledge, and experience: 

  • Proficient (preferably 3+ years) in Java and Scala application development with a strong focus on data processing, utilizing Microservices architecture with Spring Boot.
  • Experience using Kafka/Solace Queue or similar.
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) using Jenkins.
  • Experience using key AWS Services (e.g. EMR, S3, RDS Aurora, Redshift).
  • Experience with Big Data processing framework such as Apache Spark.
  • Experience of Relational databases (Postgres, Aurora, Oracle etc.).
  • Knowledge of using Terraform, Cloud formation or Helm.
  • Development mindset focused on cost optimization and performance.
  • Experience with Splunk, InfluxDB, Grafana or similar.
  • Agile and lean values.
  • Best development practices.
