At FDJ UNITED, the Pricing Engineering Team is focused on building, scaling and maintaining quantitative pricing algorithms that feed directly into our Sportsbook customers. We are building pricing feeds for multiple sports across a variety of products, with a focus on accuracy, latency and resilience.

As an Engineering Manager within our team, you will lead developers to deliver high-quality software, whilst fostering a culture of technical excellence and accountability. Your focus will be on people, technical leadership, and maintaining the health of our production systems.

What you will be doing:

  • Managing a talented group of Java and Python developers, and ensuring they feel supported in their professional development

  • Setting product-driven goals for your team, ensuring they remain on track to achieve them, and communicating with other managers and technical leads to resolve blockers

  • Refining Pricing Engineering ways of working by leading on strategic initiatives, including developer performance testing and quality assurance

  • Learning from and aligning with Senior team members to increase your Pricing domain knowledge and build strong relationships with various other engineering teams

Essential Requirements:

  • 7+ years of experience in software engineering, including 2+ years in a leadership or management role focused on people, delivery, and operational excellence

  • A strong technical foundation with hands-on experience in modern development practices, tools, and a range of programming languages and technology stacks; the Pricing Engineering team code in Java, with underlying statistical pricing models written in Python

  • Exposure to some of the following technologies: Java Spring Boot, Python, Kafka, AWS, Grafana, Postgres, Couchbase, ElasticSearch, Kubernetes, Docker, Helm

  • A track record of delivering complex low-latency, event-driven microservices from prototype to production

  • A solid understanding of software design principles and design patterns, including experience with automated testing (including integration and performance testing)

  • Experience as an approachable and considerate people manager, able to champion developer's successes and mentor them through challenges

  • Demonstrable success building relationships with a range of stakeholders and delivering on their needs.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Specific experience in the development of systems focussed on sporting data and/or delivery of sports pricing feeds

  • Experience with Agile development practices, e.g. Scrum, Kanban

  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools
