The role 

As a member of the Product Personalisation Data Science team, you will be a skilled hands-on contributor in a wide array of data science projects. Although this is a predominantly hands-on role, you will have ample opportunity to interact with experienced and motivated business stakeholders as your skills and business understanding develops.

The Data Science team is part of a larger data and analytics group called A&I that has separate functions for Data Science & Machine Learning, Data Analytics, BI, Data Engineering and Responsible Gaming among others. This structure allows the Data Science & Machine Learning Engineering teams to focus on the core data science projects with the best possible support.

As an online high transaction business, FDJ United collects larger amounts of data both internally and 3rd party business partners. With this wealth of data generated from betting and game play activity, as well as the latest tools and technologies available to our technical teams, you will be expected to provide innovative solutions to new and old challenges faced by the business.

This particular role focuses primarily on product personalisation with a strong focus on product placement, product recommendation and personalisation, customer behaviour, A/B testing and more. Given its direct impact to the business, it is an exciting role for ambitious professionals who desire to more quickly observe the fruits of their work.

What you will do 

  • Hands on contributor, applying machine learning methodologies to delivering data science projects that allow the company to achieve its many goals.
  • Work with a cross-functional group responsible for product personalisation.
  • Perform data analysis and modelling on large (Tb) data sets.
  • Work with Data Scientists and ML engineers to productionise solutions.
  • Analyse wide range of data sources to identify new business value.

Your experience 

  • 1-3 years of commercial experience, ideally in a data science/machine learning role.
  • PhD or Masters in a STEM discipline.
  • Strong Python/SQL skills.
  • Good overall programming & software development knowledge.
  • Good statistics fundamentals
  • Good understanding of statistical traditional and modern modelling and machine learning/AI techniques.
  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to explain complex topics to stakeholders.
  • A problem-solving growth mindset with the ability to pick up new concepts quickly.
  • Ideally experience putting models and processes into production.
  • Experience in cloud computing, in particular AWS.
  • Advanced knowledge of A/B testing and design of experiment.
  • Strong knowledge of recommender systems.
