  • Provide Hands-on Technical Guidance: Serve as the primary technical expert for the team, offering guidance on complex technical challenges, architectural decisions, and coding best practices.  
  • Drive End-to-End Development: Lead the development lifecycle for projects, from initial design and technical specification through implementation, testing, and successful release.  
  • Direct Technical Contribution: Actively contribute to the codebase through hands-on development, writing clean, production-quality code, and participating in design and code reviews.  
  • Champion Operational Excellence and System Design: Lead efforts in maintaining and improving operational excellence for team-owned systems. Provide critical input to system design, ensuring solutions are robust, scalable, and performant. This includes debugging and resolving complex production issues.
  • Mentor and Develop Team Members: Directly manage and mentor individual team members, from junior to senior levels, supporting their technical growth, skill development, and career aspirations.  
  • Accountability for Deliveries and Timelines: Take full accountability for the team's technical deliveries, ensuring projects are completed on schedule and meet defined quality standards. This includes accurate forecasting of deliverables.  
  • Work Assignment and Agile Participation: Assign work to team members in alignment with the sprint backlog and project priorities. Actively participate in all agile ceremonies, contributing to planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Incident Management Oversight: Control the incident management rota for the team and provide hands-on support for resolving critical production issues, ensuring timely and effective solutions.  
  • Enforce Engineering Best Practices: Ensure strict adherence to engineering best practices, coding standards, and quality metrics through regular code reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Process Optimization Collaboration: Collaborate closely with the team to identify opportunities for optimizing existing development and operational processes, driving efficiency and continuous improvement.  
  • System Performance Monitoring and Observability: Monitor key system performance metrics and observability data to proactively identify issues, ensure system health, and contribute to performance optimization efforts.
  • Enhanced Collaboration with Product and Delivery: Work more closely with Product Owners and Delivery Leads to deeply understand product requirements, translate them into technical tasks, and ensure seamless alignment between technical execution and product vision.

 

Technical and Functional skills:

  • Experience using Python, Scala or Java code against large-scale, cloud-based data warehouses that make use of big-data frameworks like Spark, Kafka, etc. 
  • Developing and maintain the KSP data warehouse for the purpose of facilitating commercial, operational, and strategic reporting. 
  • Build data assets that are aligned to KSP strategy and architectural roadmaps. 
  • Build foundational data sets that are trusted, well understood, aligned with business strategy, and enable self-service. 
  • Document data pipelines and data lineage. 
  • Assembling large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements. 
  • Designing, developing and implementing data pipelines for data migration & collection, data analytics and BI reporting & visualisations. 
  • Support and maintain big data and streaming platforms and deployed solutions. 
  • Working with stakeholders to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs. 
  • Configure data governance tools for business glossary, metadata management and data quality management. 
  • Develop APIs to deliver different data products.
