Data Engineer – Quant Team

Role Overview

Join our innovative Quant Team at FDJ United, where we build cutting-edge quantitative sports models from prototype to production. We're integral to shaping the future evolution of our in-house Sportsbook Platform.

Our team is split into Quant Research and Quant Engineering. The Quant Engineering stream is all about creating robust, flexible, and high-performing data pipelines and products. We're seeking a passionate Quant Data Engineer to help us scale and enhance our data capabilities, providing the essential data backbone for advanced model development and seamless deployment.

 

What You'll Do

  • Design and build reliable data pipelines, creating streamlined ETL processes and ensuring data quality through effective validation frameworks.
  • Develop accessible software layers, enabling easy and controlled access to Quant Team data products.
  • Collaborate closely with senior team members to shape the architecture and delivery of impactful Quant Team projects.
  • Deploy and manage software applications using modern CI/CD best practices, including containerisation with Docker and orchestration with Kubernetes.
  • Work proactively with colleagues to continuously refine, optimise, and monitor our data-driven products in a production environment.
  • Foster collaboration and innovation within the team, contributing new ideas and taking ownership of independent tasks.
  • Effectively communicate technical insights and project updates to both technical colleagues and broader stakeholders.

 

What We're Looking For Essential:

  • 2-3 years of hands-on experience in data engineering or a similar role.
  • Proficiency with Python and SQL, alongside experience with data processing libraries like Pandas or Polars.
  • Comfortable working with diverse datasets and formats through a database or datalake technologies such as PostgreSQL, Apache Iceberg.
  • Experience developing and deploying cloud-based solutions (AWS preferred) using cloud-native and open-source services.
  • Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools (Airflow preferred) and experience orchestrating data pipelines.
  • A passion or interest in sports data or related domains.
  • A proactive mindset, keen to learn new skills and solve complex problems.

 

Desirable:

  • Masters/PhD in a STEM-related subject.
  • Familiarity with functional and object-oriented programming paradigms.
  • Contributions to open-source projects, e.g., GitHub – Share with us your current and past projects.
  • Interest or experience in the sports betting industry.
  • Ability to establish data governance and quality standards.
