The role

We are seeking a talented Legal Counsel – Corporate & Commercial with 3–5 years of post-qualification experience to join our in-house legal team. This role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, international environment, advising on a wide range of commercial, corporate, and contractual matters.

Reporting to the Senior Legal Manager, you will provide legal guidance across the business, ensuring that risks are identified, managed, and communicated effectively, while supporting business objectives. You will work closely with colleagues across multiple jurisdictions and functions, helping to drive compliance, efficiency, and sound decision-making.

What you will do

  • Support corporate governance and company secretarial matters, including board- and shareholder documentation and filings.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including supplier, customer, licensing, and service contracts.
  • Contribute to policy development and implementation of legal frameworks, templates, and processes.
  • Liaise with external counsel where specialist advice is required, ensuring cost-effective and practical solutions.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders in order to ensure effective and practical solutions and processes, including but not limited to,  identification and management of legal risks in commercial activities.
  • Advise on cross-border contractual arrangements and ensure compliance with applicable corporate and commercial law.
  • Support procurement and commercial teams with contract lifecycle management.
  • Support training initiatives to raise legal and contractual awareness within the business.

Compliance obligations

  • Ensure that you adhere to the Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) obligations for your role.
  • Identify and raise any non-compliance incidents promptly to your line manager.
  • Challenge processes, policies and projects that will negatively impact compliance within the Group.
  • Complete all mandatory compliance training assigned to you.
  • Reach out to the Compliance Teams if unsure of any of your compliance obligations or the requirements are unclear.

  • Successful completion of all relevant training and other compliance activities that support FDJ's sustainable and responsible growth

Your experience

  • Qualified lawyer with 3–5 years of experience in corporate and commercial law (in-house and/or private practice background). Experience from international and multijurisdictional environments is meritorious.
  • Exposure to corporate law matters, including governance, structuring and contacts with relevant authorities.
  • Solid experience drafting and negotiating a broad range of commercial contracts.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to balance legal risks with commercial objectives.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain complex issues clearly and pragmatically.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proactive, solutions-oriented, and able to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Fluency in English is required and proficiency in French is a strong asset.
