About the Role

We are seeking a Java developer with a strong testing mindset — someone who not only writes high‑quality Java and Spring Boot code but also treats automated testing as an integral part of software engineering. You'll maintain, enhance, and expand our existing robust automation frameworks to ensure quality across backend systems and APIs.

You'll join the Responsible Gambling team, a group committed to building safe, resilient, and trustworthy gaming experiences for our customers.

What You Will Do

  • Maintain, enhance, and expand Java + Spring Boot–based automation frameworks for APIs, services, and backend components.
  • Build advanced automated test solutions using Java, Spring Boot, TestNG, RestAssured, and related tools.
  • Define testable designs and quality gates in close collaboration with backend developers.
  • Implement functional, integration, regression, and API test suites.
  • Own automation within CI/CD pipelines (Git workflows, PR checks, pipelines).
  • Analyze failures, drive root-cause investigations, and prevent future regressions.
  • Contribute to architecture discussions with a focus on testability and engineering quality.
  • Continuously improve test strategy, test coverage, and framework capabilities.
  • Actively participate in agile ways of working and contribute to a high-quality engineering culture.

Must-Have Skills

Core Technical Requirements

  • Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot (core backend development experience).
  • Experience building or maintaining test automation frameworks in Java.
  • Familiarity with: TestNG / JUnit, RestAssured / RestTemplate
  • API and service-level testing
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Git workflows.
  • Strong understanding of testing methodologies and how to apply them within engineering teams.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience working with Kafka.
  • Performance or load testing tools (Gatling, k6).
  • Containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Contract testing tools (Pact).

Who You Are

  • A Java engineer who thinks deeply about quality and testability.
  • Someone who builds reliable, maintainable systems and automation solutions.
  • A collaborative team player who values knowledge sharing and collective ownership.
  • Curious, proactive, and not afraid to question existing solutions.
  • Someone who brings architectural awareness and a continuous improvement mindset.
